:MEMBERSHIP:
Membership Benefits
We offer instructive activities
and exhibit opportunities to assist our members in their artistic
and professional growth. We seek to create a fellowship of pastel
artists for the betterment of ourselves and our chosen medium.
Members are accepted to the Great
Lakes Pastel Society by their love of the pastel painting (non-juried).
Dues are established by the membership and are paid once a year.
We are pleased to have honorary directors, as selected by our board,
and include four. Master Pastelists as designated by the Pastel
Society of America: Larry Blovits, Doug Dawson, Carole Katchen and
Urania Christy Tarbet.

Newsletters
Our bimonthly newsletter,"Purely
Pastel", keeps members informed of up-date-information on our society,
our members achievement and upcoming opportunities for pastelists.

Exhibition Opportunities
Currently, exhibition opportunities
include our regional "members only" juried show, our national juried
show, access to open shows by other pastel societies and the international
competitions hosted by our affiliate, The International Association
of Pastel Societies.
The Great Lakes Pastel Society
initiated and directs a slide exchange program with other pastel
groups affiliated with the International Association of Pastel Societies.
Pastel societies from around the world are participating and groups
are enjoying viewing artwork by talented pastelists from other areas.

Educational Programs
The Great Lakes Pastel Society
meets four times per year and hosts educational programs and "plein
air" painting sessions. We meet in various cities in the Midwest
to help foster membership from all around the region. We currently
sponsor workshops with nationally-known instructors teaching in
the Midwest.
