"The Look in Her Eye" by Marge LeBel Artist Statement - I began painting with one set of pastels. As my love for the medium grew, so did my collection of pastels. I delight in the vivid, rich colors and the varying characteristics of pastels. I’ve found the forgiving nature of pastels very conducive to portrait work. While I strive to portray my subjects in a realistic fashion, I hope to capture something of the person or animal that makes them unique. Recently retiring and moving to the shores of Lake Michigan has prompted an interest in painting the incredible beauty of the area.
