"Glen Haven Cannery" by Irene Wordhouse Artist Statement - I love working with pastel. The colors of the sticks are so rich, and this medium is a wonderful blend of drawing and painting. I like to focus on ordinary subjects, giving them a deeper meaning. Making art can be hard work. What keeps me going is the joy I feel when I’m painting. At such times I can identify with Eric Liddell in the movie, Chariots of Fire, when he says that he feels God’s pleasure when he is doing what God created him to do. I am very grateful to God for this blessing of art. Having others enjoy my work is added pleasure.
